I love to see family come together to celebrate the wisdom and achievement of the seniors in their lives. Little grandchildren waiting with a small bouquet of flowers to listen to their grandparent reading an excerpt of their short story or poem.
When memories and words come together, when events and emotions are re-lived again, when stories are written and shared, when people hear and feel them… then it comes the time of self-satisfaction, time of acknowledgment and time of celebration.
In past five years of celebrating Dragan’s Award we have seen many children and grand or grand-grand children who were proudly watching how their grandparents are reading stories in public, we have seen many tears of happiness, small gifts given from the heart, we witnessed elderly in their best, shining suits and specially made hairstyles.
We were part of surprise parties and concerts that were by family members and friends organized in honor of their parents and grandparents. While watching elderly and their families together we have seen and felt love, care, support, encouragement and respect in all of its pure beauty.
We truly wish to see it happening in Malaysia, country so rich in its diversity and its family values. Â Â Â Â
