“I haven’t travelled much in my life. I did not really have the opportunity to do so. What story or poem can I write about?”
Since it first started, Dragan Award received many entries and one thing never fails to amaze – the limitless possibilities to stories that people tell. It is truly heartwarming, reading stories and poems that describes journeys in life, be it real happenings or fictional imaginations.
There was one story in Serbia which described a journey through a 400 metre street. The author is a disabled person who did not travel much in his life but he won first award because he perfectly described his journey through history, architecture and personal stories of families that lived in houses in that short street.
And there was another story – an imagined journey to the cosmos. It was an amazing story about dreams and limitless possibilities that life gives to us. The aim of the story was to show us that each of us faces obstacles and difficulties but it is up to us whether we will continue life journey as captains of the space shuttle or as prisoners.
There were many more stories which were creative, authentic and deeply meaningful.
